MINDEN, Nev.-The non-profit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch is pleased to announce the hiring of Kim Copél for the new position of Events Coordinator.

Copél will assist with the planning of numerous public events at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, with primary responsibility for presenters in the Ferris Family Speaker Series, a Chautauqua series, and a variety of events featuring Western arts and crafts.

“I and the Friends of Dangberg board of trustees couldn’t be happier to have Kim join us as we continue to expand our events programming,” said the park’s curator, Mark Jensen. “Her experience with events and public history will help us make a great leap forward in the park’s development.”

A native of Truckee and a current resident of Genoa, she is the owner and living history performer at Western History ALIVE!, and also conducts guided tours for her own company, Genoa Historic Ghost Tours. She also writes scripts, researches, and performs for Cobweb Palace Productions.

“Mark, the board of trustees, and all of the volunteers have been so welcoming, supportive and helpful,” Copél said. “I’m truly looking forward to working with and learning from them, and sharing the park with everyone who lives in and comes to Carson Valley. What a treasure we have here, right in our own backyard.”

Copél’s volunteer experience includes chairing the Genoa Summer Concert Series, serving as secretary for the board of trustees of the Douglas County Historical Society, and service with the Friends of Snowshoe Thompson. She is currently the secretary of the Greater Genoa Business Association, where she is co-chair of the Sweet Sippin’ Sundays fundraising events. She is also the secretary of the National Pony Express Association, Nevada Division.

In recent years, she participated in the management of the Genoa Christmas Concerts, and was the treasurer of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society. She has also served as a board member of the Lake Tahoe Business Referral Network and the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club.
