GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Highway 395 remains closed south of Holbrook Junction to Highway 182 in Bridgeport.

Voluntary evacuations remain in place for the area behind Topaz Lodge, though no structures are threatened at this time, according to Douglas County officials. The Douglas County Community and Senior Center remains open for evacuees.

The Slinkard Fire grew to 6,500 acres with zero percent containment on Thursday.

The fire’s growth was predominantly on the northwestern flank uphill from Topaz and towards the Alpine County jurisdictional line during the day.

Fire crews mopped up and secured lines along the Highway 395 corridor, and worked to re-establish an anchor point for the fire and to construct fire line for perimeter control. Continuing to collect updates here.

Expect hazy skies with a high of 96 degrees this afternoon. Highs will continue in the mid-90s through the weekend.

Douglas football travels to Reed for a 7 p.m. game tonight.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
