Good Morning, Carson Valley: Aug. 30

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — The Slinkard Fire has burned approximately 750 acres south of Monitor Pass, closing Highway 89, according to a report from The Record-Courier. The fire is burning in grass and brush above the corrals in Slinkard Valley. The Record-Courier’s story is here.

Air quality in the Valley is in the “moderate” range this morning.

This afternoon should bring a high temperature near 92 degrees with wind gusts up to 20 mph and a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms.

The Sierra Chef Farm to Fork Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this morning at Lampe Park.

Douglas County Public Library hosts toddler storytime for children 18 months to 3 years of age at 10:30 a.m. today. The Minden Library is located at 1625 Library Lane.

The Douglas girls soccer, volleyball, girls tennis and boys tennis teams all picked up wins this morning. We’ll be provided more details on those matches as the morning rolls along.
