GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — The Lyons Fire east of the Pine Nut Mountains and north of the Carson/Douglas line had burned more than 1,600 acres as of last update. It is 21 percent contained.

The final installment of the GE Family Concert Series at Minden Park is tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring Rad Moon Rising (Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute).

The Douglas football team opens its season Saturday morning in Pocatello, Idaho against Rigby High School at 9 a.m. our time. The game will be viewable at this link.

The Douglas girls tennis team lost a tiebreaker to McQueen in its season-opening match Thursday.

The Lampe Class Races are this afternoon and are expected to draw 26 high school cross country teams and more than 600 runners to Lampe Park. The ninth-grade race is at 3 p.m., the 10th-grade race is at 3:30 p.m., the 11-grade race is at 4 p.m. and the 12th-grade race is at 4:30 p.m.

The Douglas High cross country team will be hosting a fundraiser at Yogurt Beach from 3 to 6 p.m. as well.

Look for a high of 90 degrees today, climbing through the weekend and peaking at 96 on Monday. Clear skies are in order throughout.
