GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Lightning strikes sparked numerous fires around Northern Nevada Tuesday afternoon and evening.

According to East Fork officials, fire crews responded to several small or single-tree fires in the district, and assisted with the attack on the 150-acre Voltaire Canyon Fire in Carson City.

Crews contained a quarter-acre fire near Out-R-Way and battled a 10-acre fire off of Genoa Peak. They were also fighting the Lyons Fire east of Sunrise Pass Road that burned 500 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are again in the forecast today with a high of 87 degrees, but that should be the last of this series. The National Weather Service is showing clear skies and highs climbing back into the mid-90s over the weekend and into next week.

The Sierra Chef Farm to Fork Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Lampe Park.

Toddler storytime for children 18 months to 3 years of age will be today at 10:30 a.m., at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
