GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — We have a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, starting after 2 p.m. Look for a high of 93 degrees.

Highs in the high 80s are expected through the weekend and into next week.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Captain Dan Coverley will appear on KOH 780 AM radio this evening from 5:15 to 6 p.m. this evening to discuss DCSO Marine 7 and Search & Rescue.

On Saturday morning, the Carson Valley Medical Center will host its annual Health Fest family health and wellness fair from 8:30 a.m. to noon. on Aug. 19 from 8:30 am to noon, paired with a ColorBlast 5K to benefit Tahoe Youth and Family Services. The Health Fest will offer free health screenings and assessments, valuable health and wellness resources, a bounce house and face painting for the kids, food and great raffle prizes. Also Saturday, the Centennial Genoa Candy Dance Statue Project committee and The Pink House are hosting a public event to inform the public about the Lillian Virgin Finnegan statue project. It’ll be held at 193 Genoa Lane, Genoa, Saturday, August 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Read more here.
