Good Morning, Carson Valley: Aug. 3

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — The excessive heat warning expires this evening at 11 p.m. — though the National Weather Service has downgraded its forecast for today (if only slightly) from 103 degrees to 100 degrees in Gardnerville.

It’ll be down to 95 Friday and potentially drop into the 80s for the weekend as thunderstorms roll over the Valley.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners meets today at 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Historic Courthouse, 1616 8th Street in Minden. Their agenda appears here.

A Boys & Girls Club informational meeting will be today at noon at Carson Valley Accounting, 1663 US 395 Suite 201, Minden. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada serve 340 children in Carson Valley. The organization is scouting for possible sites to build a stand-alone clubhouse as it is rapidly outgrowing its current location at Pau-Wa- Lu Middle School.
