GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Crews are on scene of what has been dubbed the Preacher Fire, currently burning at 60 acres near the Preacher Mine burn scar, though no structure threat is imminent.

The fire was sparked by lightning around 3:30 a.m. Monday (lightning also sparked a single-tree fire near Leviathan Mine Road that crews quickly extinguished).

We’ll be collecting updates on the Preacher Fire here.

Lightning could continue today as scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, mainly after 11 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Otherwise, look for mostly sunny skies with a high near 92 degrees.

Temperatures should hang around in the low 90s these next couple of days before shooting back into the high 90s to close out the week.

The Douglas County Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library are having a mini book sale today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center, 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. There will be books for all ages. All proceeds from the sale support the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library and the Douglas County Public Library Foundation.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
