Crews Contain Half-Acre Wildland Fire Off Buckeye Wednesday Night

Staff Reports · 1 min read

MINDEN, Nev. — East Fork Fire Protection District crews contained and mopped up a half-acre fire along the dirt extension of Buckeye Road into the Pine Nuts from East Valley Road within two hours Wednesday evening.

Investigators are looking at a human-caused start after finding fireworks at the scene, according to East Fork Deputy Chief Dave Fogerson.

Fogerson said Captain Terry Taylor is following up on leads from the incident.

“Fireworks are illegal and you can be cited for their use along with responsibility for fire costs should a fire start,” Fogerson said. “The odds of starting a wildland fire are very, very, very good right now as can be seen from the spate of recent fires.”

Anyone with information on the fire can contact 775-782-9861.
