GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — A number of Independence Day celebrations are planned in and around Carson Valley for July 4.

Freedom 5K: The Town of Gardnerville and Main Street Gardnerville will host their 5th annual “Gardnerville Freedom 5K Fun Run/Walk” on July 4th, 7 am – 10 am at Heritage Park. Register online at https://www.raceentry.com. (Enter Gardnerville in the search bar to find the direct race link.) Registration forms are also available in the Gardnerville office at 1407 Hwy 395 in Gardnerville. Submit registration forms with payment to Main Street Gardnerville at this same address. There will be a Yankee Doodle Dash Obstacle Course, free for kids 12 and under. Competitions begin at 8 am. No preregistration needed but must fill out a liability form to enter. Pancake Breakfast: The Carson Valley Lions Club will host a “Pancake Breakfast” from 8-10 a.m. July 4 at Heritage Park in Gardnerville. The $7 breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverage. More information here.
Minden Fourth of July Celebration: The Town of Minden and Carson Valley Inn are sponsoring the fifth annual Minden Fourth of July Celebration in Minden Park, with support from Model Dairy. Festivities start at 10 a.m. A children’s bicycle parade will again be the hallmark feature. The Carson Valley Inn will provide complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch and Model Dairy will provide free popsicles. There will also be bounce houses and a bubble zone on hand, along with balloon creations. More information here.
Genoa Americana Celebration: The Genoa Americana Celebration will be July 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. located at Mormon Station State Historic Park. The day will feature five traditional music groups and will conclude with a special Independence Day Tribute performance by the Carson Symphony Orchestra at 4:30 p.m. Schedule of Events: 10:00 —Children’s Parade; 10:45 — Sierra Silver Strings; 11:45 — Sage Creek; 12:45 — Richard Elloyan & Steve Wade; 1:45 — Sierra Sweethearts; 2:30 — Raffles Prizes Announced; 3:15 — Slade Rivers Band; 4:30 — Carson City Symphony. Carson Valley Pops Orchestra: The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra with the Voices of the Sierra choral group will present “A Concert Of Patriotic Songs” July 4 at Heritage Park in Gardnerville beginning at 11:30 a.m. More information here.
Lake Tahoe Fireworks: The Lights on the Lake fireworks show launches from barges out on the lake starting at dusk and many of the best vantage points are along the south shore. The show is choreographed to music and broadcast on local radio stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490.
Carson City Fireworks: A fireworks show by the PyroGuys launched from behind Carson High School and viewable throughout Carson City begins after dusk. The radio station 102.9 FM will broadcast during the show.
