MINDEN, Nev. — The Douglas High School football team went 3-1 at the University of Nevada passing tournament over the weekend.
The Tigers defeated North Valleys, Wooster and Carson and lost on the final play, 24-18, to the Swag Factory (and all-star magnet school from Modesto, Calif.).
Reed won the tournament championship, beating Swag Factory by a touchdown in the finals.
“Our goal was to get better and I feel like we did that,” Douglas coach Ernie Monfiletto said. “Lots of kids got reps and played well.”
Quarterback Hunter Hickey, Kane Hoyopatubbi, Jack Overton, Andrew Williams, Dakota Lowden and Devon Ryan stood out on offense.
Hoyopatubbi, Williams, Paul Castillo and Ryan were among the standouts on defense.
