Good Morning, Carson Valley: June 7

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Crews have 45 containment on the Payne Fire in Alpine County, which had burned 100 acres as of 7 a.m.

The Topaz Fire was revised down to eight acres (from 20) with one outbuilding damaged (initially reported as lost). Crews remain on scene there mopping things up. And the Ray May Fire is fully contained. The causes of all three are under investigation. More on all three can be found here.

A Red Flag Fire warning has been issued by the National Weather Service from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Gusty winds up to 20 mph and low humidity (8-15 percent) are expected.  Look for a high of 82 degrees under sunny skies this afternoon.

The Sierra Chef Farm to Fork Farmers Market will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today through Sept. 13. An assortment of fresh local foods, crafts and local specialties through more than 35 vendors will be on hand. There will be a Big Bag Giveaway every week, along with “Giving Back Booths” for community service organizations. “Farm to Fork” classes will also be offered during the market season.

Today is also the start of storytime at Lampe Park on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. through July 26. Crafts will be included. Storytime will be held near the Farmer’s Market. Children of all ages are welcome.

The Minden Town Board meets tonight at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden at 5:30 p.m.
And the Town of Genoa Advisory Board meets at 6:30 p.m., tonight on the first Wednesday of the month at the Genoa Town Meeting Room, 2289 Main Street in Genoa.
Cooler temperatures are still inbound with a high of 67 expected on Saturday.
