MINDEN, Nev. — Douglas County is currently seeking applicants for the position of Assistant County Manager. The job posted on May 22, 2017 and will be open until June 12, 2017.
Previously the Assistant County Manager and Chief Financial Officer was a dual role. The Douglas County Commissioners added the new position which separated the two roles into the 2017/2018 fiscal year budget.
“This role will serve the public in a multitude of capacities, and will provide additional leadership to the organization,” said County Manager, Larry Werner. “It is important for this process to be conducted in a very open and transparent manner, and we plan to conduct a series of very thorough interviews.”
The Assistant County Manager will be responsible for planning, coordination, and direction to specified County operating departments and functions as assigned by the County Manager. The position will provide policy guidance, strategic planning, and program evaluation to appointed managers. The individual will also provide assistance and support to the County Manager in making decisions and recommendations regarding the overall operations of the County as well as serving to represent the County in dealings with public officials from other jurisdictions, representatives of private industry, and members of the general public.
Following the closing date, applications will be reviewed and qualified candidates will be selected for phone interviews. The top candidates will also be interviewed by the County Manager, undergo a panel interview and be given the chance to interact with the public at a meet and greet reception.
