CARSON CITY, Nev. — Carson City-based non-profit Food For Thought, Inc. will continue its successful Summer Lunch Program during the 2017 season.
The program provides free and nutritious lunches to all children ages 2 to 18.
Lunch will be served daily, Monday thru Friday, at two locations in Carson City starting June 5th until August 18th. Locations and times are as follows:
Location 1: Terrance Park at 1327 La Loma Drive, Carson City from 11 am till 12:30 pm.
Location 2: The Bridge Church at 901 N. Stewart Street, Carson City from 11 am till 12:30 pm.
The Summer Lunch Program provides meals to area children who are unable to access other lunch programs during the months off from school. The 2016, program served nearly 10,000 meals and even more need is expected this year.
Children do not need to be enrolled in any program at the meal site. However, adults are not eligible for these federally funded meals. Additionally, meals must be eaten at the serving site and cannot be carried away.
“Food For Thought is gearing up for this much needed Lunch Program and anticipate a larger turnout than 2016. Please consider volunteering or supporting these efforts. Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated. Help us serve our area children.” said Marlene Maffei, Executive Director of Food For Thought.

About Food For Thought
Founded in 2006, Fritsch Friends was created as a pilot program to discreetly and directly provide weekly bags of food for school children in need. Thanks to the support from the community and incredible volunteers, the organization has grown into an independent, non-profit organization known as Food for Thought, Inc.™. Over the last decade, Food For Thought has distributed tens of thousands of meals to the most vulnerable in our society, and has developed and evolved its programming to meet the changing needs of these children. Today, Food For Thought works to combat food insecurity by serving 13 schools in the Carson City community.
Food For Thought is making a difference with childhood hunger, one meal at a time. To learn more about this organization visit: NVFoodForThought.org.
