Good Morning, Carson Valley: June 2

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Starbucks announced this morning plans for a $50 million expansion to the distribution side of its Carson Valley Roasting Plant, creating 100 new jobs.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for next week and they hope to complete the work by next summer. Read more here.

We’re in for sunny skies once again today with a high of 83 degrees. Temperatures will hang around in the high 70s to low 80s through the weekend and most of next week.

The Douglas High School music department will host a clothing drive with drop off set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville, 1447 Courthouse Alley. All items must be in large garbage bags or boxes and must be reusable.

The Carson Valley site of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada Torch Club is holding a car wash at the Stratton Center, 1532 U.S. Highway 395 in Gardnerville on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Cars are $5 and trucks are $7 and snacks will also be available for sale. Shade will be provided for people waiting for their cars to be washed.

And the Carson Valley Trails Association will host a National Trails Day celebration June 3 at the Bently Heritage Trail (7:30-10 a.m.) and at Fay-Luther Trail (9 a.m.-noon). Read more here.

The Minden Library is showing family movies every Saturday in June at 2:00 p.m. in the meeting room. This week’s movie is “The Secret Life of Pets.” The movies and fresh popcorn are free. The Minden Library is located at 1625 Library Lane.
