Flood Warning Forecast Maps

MINDEN, Nev. — Maps distributed by the National Weather Service of the potential flood prone areas for the flood warnings Sunday through Tuesday in Carson Valley.

HDR Engineering generated simulated inundation maps for the Carson River/Valley for flows near the forecast peak flow of the upcoming flood event.

The National Weather Service was not involved in the creation of these maps, but received permission to help distribute them.

Please note, these maps are ONLY to be used for planning purposes as a reference for areas that MAY flood during this event. This is a model simulation, and actual inundation will vary. Simplified estimates have been used to represent tributary inflows and may not be realistic. Inflow locations are indicated with a red dot on the map.

Again,  these are not maps of where flooding will occur or where flooding will not occur – instead potentially where it might occur and to what extent it might occur:
