GARDNERVILLE, Nev., May 6, 2015 – The Minden Food Company announced on its Facebook page last night that it had closed its doors as of May 2.

“It’s been a long road from the vision that was created in 2002 until today,” the statement read. “There have been so many wonderful times that we will forever remember. As well, there have been just as many challenges and unfortunately in the end, we made the very difficult decision to close.”

There is a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms after 11 a.m. today, increasing to 40 percent tonight and 60 percent on Thursday. Otherwise look for a high of 65 and wind gusts up to 25 mph.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1038 Buckeye Road. The event will give citizens an opportunity to tour the station, including a guided tour of the jail, numerous demonstrations and displays. Attendees will also have an opportunity to see specialized equipment including the crisis negotiation team vehicle and equipment, the emergency communications center mobile command post, patrol vehicles and more. Hot dogs, chips and refreshments will be provided.

We’re still slogging through some structural improvements on the web site and hope to make up some ground today. We also have a pretty healthy list of stories to get to, so keep an eye out for updates.

That’s a full lid for now. Take care out there and have a great day.
