Swimming & Diving: Douglas Wraps Up Perfect Regular Season Vs. Galena, Manogue (PHOTOS)

Staff Reports

MINDEN, Nev. — The Douglas High School Swimming & Diving Program has unquestionably been the most successful on campus over the past several years, winning dual meets seemingly at will, and locking down a number of individual and team regional titles.

The Lady Tigers will chase their fourth consecutive regional team title (the boys will be attempting to run their team title streak to two) next week, but the program closed out the season in strong fashion Saturday, sweeping dual meets from both Galena and Manogue. It was also Senior Day for the Tigers, as Douglas said farewell to its graduating class of seniors.

For the girls, it was their 66th and 67th consecutive dual meet wins (they beat Galena 183-124 and beat Manogue 186-126). For the boys, their 51st and 52nd consecutive wins (they beat Manogue 233-63 and beat Galena 214-94).

The team posted 43 personal bests during the duals. Douglas will have 42 athletes competing at next week’s regionals, which represents their largest contingent thus far.
Regional diving will be at the University of Nevada, Reno at 6:30 p.m. Swimming regional preliminaries are 3 p.m. Friday with finals starting Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Carson Aquatic Facility.
