GARDNERVILLE, Nev., May 1, 2015 – Happy May Day to everyone.
Main Street Gardnerville still has about a dozen flower baskets up for sponsorships as part of their continued downtown beautification efforts. Sponsorship is $95 per basket, which will hang along Main Street for the season.
The flower baskets are grown by students in the Horticultural and FFA Programs at Douglas High and Smith Valley Schools as well as staff and students at China Spring Youth Facility. The proceeds from these donations are twofold: two-thirds of the funds go directly to the schools to support these programs and the remainder allows the Flower Committee to continue beautifying Main Street. For more information on the Main Street Gardnerville Program, or to sponsor a basket, contact 775-782-8027 or Info@MainStreetGardnerville.org.

Douglas High baseball saw its season come to an end Thursday afternoon as Carson prevailed 6-3 over the Tigers, and McQueen slipped into the final playoff spot via a tiebreaker after beating North Valleys.
Douglas softball also fell, 4-1 on the road against North Valleys. The Lady Tigers will close their regular season out Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Carson with a spot in the playoffs next week already in hand.
Sharkey’s Casino will have its official grand re-opening and ribbon cutting at noon today. We have a couple different stories in the works, but we just don’t know yet how many will be ready to go by the end of the day. We’ll see how far we get.
That’s a full lid for now. Take care out there and have a great day.
