Swimming & Diving: Douglas Cruises Past Reno, Reed

MINDEN, Nev. — The Douglas High School swimming & diving rolled up dual meet sweeps of REno and Reed at the Carson Valley Swim Center on Friday.

The Douglas boys beat Reed 204-84 and beat Reno 199-98. The Lady Tigers beat Reed 210-84, and beat Reno 184-115.

As a team, Douglas turned 62 season-best times with Ashley Hellwinkel qualifying for regionals in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke and Madison Harvey and Logan Silva each qualifying in the 500 free. Douglas swept every relay on the boys and girls sides.
“I am very impressed with how the team is swimming,” Douglas coach Sarah Davenport said. “We are looking fast and ready for our most challenging meet next Saturday.”

Douglas closes out its regular season Saturday at the Carson Valley Swim Center at 10:30 a.m. against Manogue and Galena – two of the stronger teams in the league. The Tigers will celebrate Senior Day prior to the meet.
