RENO, Nev. — The Douglas High baseball team dropped games to Damonte Ranch and Galena Friday and Saturday in Reno, falling to 2-6 overall on the young season and 0-3 in league play.
Tomas Leitenbauer and Cale Kynett each drove in runs in a 14-5 loss to Damonte Ranch Friday, Spencer Trivitt went 2-for-3 at the plate and Leitenbauer, Kynett, Logan Fencl and Haden Keller each had hits. Trivitt also stole a base.
Douglas grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the game but Damonte plated seven runs in the bottom of the second to go up 7-1. Douglas got within striking distance in the fourth, scoring four runs, but the Mustangs scraped together the game’s final seven runs to pick up the win.
Against Galena, Douglas brought four runs across in the top of the first and kept a 4-3 lead through four and a half innings, but the Grizzlies went up 10-4 with a seven-run fifth. Douglas chipped five more runs away with two in the sixth and three in the seventh, but Galena used a four-run sixth to preserve the win.
Zach Davies and Logan Fencl each drove in three runs and Cale Kynett and Kaleb Foster each had an RBI. Kynett, Fencl, Haydn Brown and Haden Keller each had two hits in the loss. Kynett and Fencl each hit triples and Davies, Nick Wilkinson and Brown each hit doubles.
Douglas next hosts Galena Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
