GARDNERVILLE, Nev., March 2, 2015 – We’re slowly on the way back to legible headlines. We spent a good portion of yesterday working out the web coding with the IT department from our hosting company. A change had been made to the code on their end, with the miniscule headlines on our home page as an unintended consequence.
We have the list of headlines on the front page back to their normal size and will have the featured stories and main carousel back in shape hopefully today. We went purposefully light on the posting Monday to avoid a long list of new, unreadable headlines. I want to thank everyone for their patience with us.
The good news is we have a bunch of stories to bring you today. So keep an eye out for those.
It’ll be a busy day at the Douglas County Public Library as the Minden branch (1625 Library Lane) hosts toddler storytime at 10:30 a.m. for 18 months to 3 years old and preschool storytime at 11:15 a.m. for ages 3 to 5.
Then, this afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., they’ll host Dog Day Afternoon. Children in first through third grades can come to with a READing Paws therapy dog. No appointment is necessary and the program is free. For more information on either program, call 775-782-9841.
The Gardnerville Town Board meets at 4:30 p.m. today at the Gardnerville Town Hall on Highway 395 and the Genoa Town Advisory Board meets at 6:30 p.m. at 2289 Main Street.

Speaking of which, Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday. So make a note now to set your clocks an hour forward. It’s the unofficial start of running/walking season and the least favorite week of the year for middle schoolers and high schoolers alike.
Sierra Chef’s next cooking class will be March 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Italian Hearts Pasta Sauces Kitchen, 1425 Industrial Way in Gardnerville. Chef Diane Weidinger of Heart Rock Herb & Spice is the guest instructor, covering spice blending for dishes such as Zucchini Feta Pancakes, Mini Beef Sliders, Honey Glazed Carrots and more.
