The Alta Alpina Cycling Club, a 501 (c) non-profit corporation, is hosting the annual “Challenge” on Sat., June 27, 2015.
This event allows cyclists of all abilities to explore the Eastern Sierras near Lake Tahoe. Ride beneath majestic snow-capped mountains, on smooth scenic roads, along the rushing Carson River, while breathing clean crisp air.
Highlighted this year is the Carson Valley Fun Foothill Ride:
A route of rolling hills at the base of the Sierras bordering the bucolic agricultural and cattle country of Carson Valley.
The Challenge spans Douglas County, NV, and Alpine County, CA. Options exist to ride as little or as far as you want. You can even join dedicated local and international cyclists on “the world’s toughest double century” – 200 miles with 20,000 feet of climbing!
This is a small (limit 499 cyclists), safe, sane, but spectacular event affording a congenial community atmosphere with famously strong volunteer support. Frequent rest stops with food and refreshments, roving assistance vehicles, and a delicious post-ride dinner are offered. For details, and to register, go to altaalpina.org/challenge.
