GARDNERVILLE, Nev., February 11, 2015 – Power has been fully restored to Douglas County residents from the original Friday storm outages and Tuesday’s early morning equipment failure. As of 5 a.m. Wednesday, two NV Energy customers in the county are out due to unrelated outages, which started yesterday. Crews are working on those.
CVT reader Kelsey Endter, writing from Boston, took a look at our Today’s Views Tuesday and said, “Definitely missing the warm valley! Boston is unfortunately much different…”
The city has already had 73.9 inches of snow this winter, having received record-breaking snow over a 30-day, 20-day and 14-day period. They received 24 inches of snow in the past 24 hours, bringing the city to a virtual standstill. We certainly send our best wishes to her and everyone out there.
Back home, if you are travelling at Lake Tahoe today, the Nevada Department of Transportation has contracted emergency safety repairs to remove hillside rocks from an area of recent rockfall on U.S. 50 near Cave Rock. Westbound travel lanes through the tunnel will be closed. Both directions of traffic will be alternated through the eastbound tunnel, with up to 30 minute travel delays to be expected.
The Douglas High School basketball program had a big night as the Lady Tigers locked up a 20-win season by beating Damonte Ranch 55-36 in Minden Tuesday.
The Tiger boys later clinched a playoff spot with a 68-52 win over Damonte. Congratulations to both squads.
