It grabbed a lead early in the week and never really looked back. Despite some tough competition from Minden Meat & Deli and its Signature Tri-Tip, Abby Jo’s Cafe Girasole came away with the CVT Sandwich Wars title for 2014, carrying nearly 37 percent of the vote for “The Marchello” – Carson Valley’s Signature Sandwich for 2014.
More than 1,200 votes were counted during the virtual throw-down and, as has been the case through our monthly searches, no one commanded a majority of the vote.
What that says to us is that there are some great sandwiches out there created by local minds. We’d have a heck of a time choosing just one ourselves. On that note, get out and try our winner, any of the four finalists, or any of the nominees. You’re not likely to be disappointed. Same goes for the burgers and pizzas we voted on in October and November.
And start thinking about Soup Wars in January. We’ll take soups and stews and chilis. Basically, anything with broth served in a bowl. Send your nominees to us at email@example.com. The nomination round starts Jan. 5.
