Good Morning, Carson Valley: Nov. 21

by Joey Crandall,

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Douglas County is providing some sneak peaks as some of the finishing touches are put on the Community & Senior Center, set to open Dec. 6.

Take a look at the arcade games, funded through private donations and installed yesterday:

Congratulations again to The Corner Bar, claiming the title for Carson Valley’s Signature Pizza 2014 – the Margherita. Though, we hear their other pizzas are just as great. We’ll be trying one as soon as our Whole 30 expires next week.

The closure of Sharkey’s last week left a number of local service clubs scrambling for a regular meeting place. Carson Valley Sertoma will meet at Holiday Inn Express at 7 a.m. on Fridays through the remainder of the year. We’re also told Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley will be meeting Thursdays at Hamdogs. The Record-Courier reports there is some improvement work going on in the Sharkey’s building – signs that it’s closure is not permanent.

In today’s weather, brought to you by Designing With Nature Landscaping, look for a high of 52 degrees with a high wind watch going into effect at 10 p.m. tonight and lasting through 4 p.m. tomorrow. A 20 to 30 percent chance of rain is in the forecast tonight through Saturday night.

Look to Designing With Nature this Holiday Season to install all of your exterior Christmas decorations. They also handle commercial and residential snow removal. Call 775-782-4999 for more information.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
