Good Morning, Carson Valley: Nov. 12

by Joey Crandall,

GARDNERVILLE, Nev., November 12, 2014 — Fresh off their regional championship win over the weekend, the Douglas High girls soccer team has moved up to No. 20 in the national rankings, compiled by Congratulations to the Lady Tigers!

Congratulations to Carson High grad Matt Williams, who was yesterday named the National League Manager of the Year after leading his Washington Nationals into the playoffs this season.

In today’s calendar, brought to you by k2 Pilates, the Douglas County Public Library, Minden branch (1625 Library Lane) hosts toddler storytime at 10:30 a.m. Call 775-782-9841 for more information, or visit

The Douglas Center for Hope and Healing offers a grief and loss support group on the second Wednesday and fourth Thursday of every month at 1677 Lucerne Street, Suite B in Minden from 6 to 7 p.m.

In today’s weather, brought to you by Designing With Nature Landscaping, the high should be around 58 degrees this afternoon. We could see rain showers starting after 10 p.m. tonight and continuing into Thursday. Still, highs should stick in the mid-50s through the early part of next week at least. Look to Designing With Nature this Holiday Season to install all of your exterior Christmas decorations. They also handle commercial and residential snow removal. Call 775-782-4999 for more information.

We have a couple more stories we’re chasing around today, so hopefully we’ll be able to post at least one of those later this morning.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day!
