Saturday will go down as one for the ages in Douglas High School athletic lore.

Tiger athletes claimed three titles on the day – winning regional crowns in girls soccer and volleyball and bringing home an individual state title in cross country (Lindsey Adams).

The soccer team defeated Galena 1-0 on a goal from Gabby Vega in the 68th minute. They’ll head down to the state tournament in Las Vegas next week.

The volleyball team beat rival Carson in five back-and-forth games to claim its crown. They’ll play in the state tournament at Galena High School next Friday.

And Adams kept a pair of runners from Centennial in her line of sight throughout the 5K cross country race before putting together a mad dash for the finish line over the final 75 meters to win in 18:43.3.

The Lady Tiger runners took third as a team behind Centennial and Palo Verde. Rebecca Corbett was 10th for the Tigers, Madison Cote was 11th, Moriah Munyan was 30th and Lizzy Byrne was 31st.

Austin Croxall finished 11th to lead the Douglas boys at state while John Munyan was 22nd.
