GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Good morning and happy Election Day to everyone.

Polls are open across the county from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. We’re looking at only one contested county-wide race, which is between Dave Brady and Ron Pierini for Douglas County Sheriff. But there are plenty of other races and interesting ballot questions on the line.

For the particulars, you can visit the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer’s election center here.

You can find polling locations, search your voting registration information and view candidates and offices up for election there. So you have no excuse not to get out there and vote.

Speaking of voting, once you do your civic duty, feel free to weigh in on our Pizza Wars, nomination round. You can cast votes for multiple options at once, but you can only submit one ballot per computer per day. Click Here to vote for the Valley’s Signature Pizza.

The postseason opens for both the Douglas girls soccer team and the Douglas volleyball team tonight. Soccer hosts McQueen at 6 p.m., and volleyball travels to McQueen at 6 p.m. Victories would earn spots in Thursday’s semifinals in both cases.

We got tangled up on the business side a bit yesterday, so we have a lot of stories to catch up on today. Keep an eye out for those.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
