Good Morning, Carson Valley: Oct. 30

by Joey Crandall,

The Minden branch of the Douglas County Public Library will host a community sing-along as part of the #NevadaSings initiative scheduled for 10 a.m. this morning (they’re asking everyone to show up at 9:45 a.m.). The goal, as they join others from across the state of Nevada, is to break a record for most people in an American state to sing their song at the same time.

The closest I’ve ever been to a world record before was a buddy of mine in the third grade got his mom to feed him fish sticks every night for a month. They sent it to the Guinness people and never heard back …

For you Wolf Pack football fans out there, due to Nevada Day on Friday, today is the last day you can sign up for Coach Brian Polian’s Quarterback club Blitz Buffet Lunch at the Carson Valley Inn on Monday. If you haven’t been, it’s a great hour talking football and a great lunch to boot.

Mostly sunny skies again today, with a high of 83. Temperatures will drop into the 40s tonight and we’re looking at Friday’s storm beginning to roll in after 11 a.m. tomorrow with rain first, then snow on Saturday.

In today’s calendar, brought to you by k2 Pilates, the Douglas volleyball team wraps up its regular season at 6 p.m. at rival Carson High.

And the Douglas football team fights to stay in the thick of the postseason story lines as they host Damonte Ranch at 7 p.m. on Senior Night. We have the game’s preview magazine for you at this link.

That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
