by Shannon Albert, Soroptimist International of Carson Valley

MINDEN, Nev. — Over six thousand dollars in grant money was awarded to worthy community organizations and programs serving our community on Tuesday, October 28. Soroptimist International of Carson Valley – a local service club dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in our community and worldwide – awarded their annual community grants for 2014 to the following groups: Family Support Council, Boys and Girls Club of Carson Valley, Tahoe Youth and Family Services, Partnership of Community Resources, Project School Days, Carson River Education, and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Youth Programs.

Funds to support the community grant program are generated through the Soroptimist’s annual fundraisers that include Savor the Flavor (scheduled for January 24, 2015) and the sale of the Carson Valley Days buttons.

“We are so proud to be able to support these worthy organizations and programs because their missions support ours by helping advance the lives of women and children through support and education” says club President Alicia Main.
