Morning News Roundup

The MEFIYI Foundation hosted its 10th annual Molly Youth Awards last night. We’ll be getting a list of winners at some point. I remember sitting with foundation director JoJo Townsell and then Douglas County recreation coordinator J.P. Albert 10 years ago as JoJo was starting to plan this event, discussing ideas over breakfast at Woodett’s. It’s grown far beyond anything that was discussed at the table that morning and that is a credit to JoJo and his vision.
Congratulations to him and the foundation on what has turned into a yearly staple recognizing Douglas County’s Incredible Youth.
Look for a high of 74 degrees today, and we’ll continue to climb toward 83 by Thursday, but it’ll drop back down, touching into the mid-60s early next week.
The Northern Nevada Regional Playoffs start up today with the Douglas baseball team traveling to Reed fort a 4 p.m. game. The Douglas golf team competes in the regional championships at Thunder Canyon as well.
Toddler story time is at the Douglas County Public Library, Minden Branch, beginning at 10 a.m. Preschool story time starts at 11:15 a.m.
We aimed for nine stories yesterday and wound up posting 10. We’re hoping the same trend continues today as we are hoping to post 11 stories but wouldn’t mind posting 13 or 14. Time will tell.
That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day.
