They’re still welcoming volunteers though, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day this week through Thursday.
I was out there yesterday and will likely head back out today. We’re hoping to present a picture of exactly how much work and planning goes into the annual program.
We were also out at the Douglas girls’ basketball team’s second and final early-morning practice of the year this morning. It’s finals week over at the high school, and every year the program runs a weight training on Monday and then brings the players in early Tuesday before cutting them loose essentially the rest of Tuesday, Wednesday and most of Thursday so the players can focus on their studies. They bring the team back Thursday evening for an hour to work on the scout prep for Friday night’s game, but otherwise it is their lightest week of practice all season.
After the early-morning hours and added stress of finals testing, the team gets to head to Las Vegas for a tournament the day after Christmas.
On the weather front, look for a high of 43 today with partly cloudy skies. The National Weather Service has upgraded Wednesday night’s potential storm from little accumulation to a half-inch of snow. An additional full inch is forecasted to fall on Thursday, just before temperatures fall back down to an overnight low of 10 that evening.
We posted Episode 3 of “The Season” last night, a little later than expected. We hope to catch up with the rest of Monday’s planned stories today.
That’s a full lid for this morning. Take care out there and have a great day!
