Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announces two academy graduates

Sheriff Ron Pierini is proud to announce the recent graduation of two Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies from the State of Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Law Enforcement Academy.

Douglas County Deputies Sean Thaler and Steven Miller graduated from the academy on Friday, November 15, 2013, after attending the academy for four months. The P.O.S.T. academy is located at the State of Nevada Stewart Training Facility, in Carson City, NV.

During the academy, law enforcement cadets are instructed in such topics as: Federal, State and Local Laws, Laws of Search and Seizure, Laws of Arrest, Community Oriented Policing, Physical Fitness, Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing and Searching, Interpersonal Communication, Interview and Interrogation , Crime Scene Processing, Domestic Battery Investigation, Report Writing, Dispatch and Radio Procedure, Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Accident Investigation, Emergency Vehicle Operations, First Aid and Lifesaving Procedures, and a host of other law enforcement & public safety topics.

Deputy Thaler is a Douglas High School graduate, has a Bachelor of Science degree and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.

Deputy Miller is a graduate from San Ramon High School, has a Bachelor of Science degree and was honorable discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
