Several local businesses have teamed up to host the Carson Valley Cares Food Drive on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Gardnerville’s Meadowdale Center.
These businesses will be collecting any non-perishable food donation for the Carson Valley Food Closet. Anyone who makes a donation at any participating business, then visits the remaining participating stores or booths will be entered into a drawing that includes a grand prize of $250 cash. Other items, including a dinner, firearm care kit, pet baths, martial arts lessons, birthday party and more will also be raffled off.
The individual businesses will also have specials, discounts or gift certificates for those who have made a donation to the Carson Valley Cares Food Drive. Participating businesses are: Hamdogs, Bullseye of Nevada, Fuzzy Paws Grooming, J&S Digital, Northwest Martial Arts, Double J Auto or Bounce n Play.
All items collected at the Carson Valley Cares Food Drive will be donated to the Carson Valley Food Closet. The Food Closet has been serving Douglas County, NV since 1989 providing assistance with groceries to those in need. Families that use the Food Closet are qualified through Douglas County Social Service or Washoe Tribe Social Services. Clients are required to provide income information, Social Security information for themselves and any dependents and must be residents of Douglas County.
