Gov. Brian Sandoval has ordered flags statewide to fly at half-staff today through sunset on Monday in honor of State Assemblywoman Peggy Pierce who passed away Thursday.

Look for a high of 66 today, and then watch it quickly drop back down to 36 tonight. Best to bundle up for tonight’s football game.

If you get the chance, and you’re going to Reno anyway, the Douglas girls tennis team will face off against Reno for the regional championship at 3 p.m. at the Caughlin Club. It’ll make for some pretty good tennis. If you can’t make it, we’ll be posting live updates in the “Updates from the Newsroom” column on the right hand side of this page and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/joeycrandall

Douglas advanced with a 13-5 win over McQueen on Thursday. Results can be found here.

The 10th Annual Bunko for Breast Cancer event to support Carson Tahoe Hospital’s Cancer Resource Center will be 5 to 11 p.m. tonight in the Carson Valley Inn Ballroom. And the Northern Nevada Fire Wives BBQ is Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 p.m. at the Carson City Fire Station 51 – 777 South Stewart Street, Carson City, NV. That’s a full lid for this morning. I can’t promise a lot of updates before tennis and football today because I’ll be out and about and on the road. Check back tonight, thought, to see what we come up with.
