by Joey Crandall,

Today’s photo comes from Mark Hounsell, taken Oct. 7 at Taylor Creek in Lake Tahoe with his iPhone 5. Thanks for sending it in Mark!

On a far more serious note, we received news yesterday of a man impersonating a police officer pulling over a woman near Woodfords junction in Alpine County over the weekend and throwing her down to the ground. She fought him off and managed to escape. The Alpine County Sheriff’s Office is seeking any information on the whereabouts of the suspect, described as a white, stocky build, approximately 40 to 50 years of age, 602 in height, 225 pounds, with dark hair and a bushy mustache. He may have sustained injuries during the struggle. You can call  530-694-2231 with any tips.

You can also find more details on the story at this link.

Outside, as you can probably see, it is rainy today. It’ll continue to be so probably through tonight, before breaking into clear skies again on Thursday. Look for a high of 55 or so today, then into the 60s through the early part of next week.

Congratulations go out to the Douglas High School girls tennis team, which yesterday advanced to the regional semifinals with a perfect 18-0 win over Spanish Springs. They’ll host McQueen (12-6 winners over Manogue) Thursday at 3 p.m.

The Douglas girls soccer teams picked up wins at both levels against North Valleys while the Douglas varsity volleyball team fell in four at Carson. The Douglas JV and freshmen both beat the Senators on the road.

More details (and photos) on all of those to come shortly.

The Douglas boys soccer team is scheduled to take on North Valleys in Minden this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

That’s a full lid from the CVT newsroom for today. We have a bunch of stories getting ready to post (I’m counting seven right now, and more always trickle in throughout the day), so make sure to check back with us again soon.
