The Douglas High School volleyball team put up a 6-1 record at the Yerington Invitational over the weekend.
Douglas went 3-0 in Friday’s pool play round, defeating Pershing County (25-22, 17-25, 15-11), Wells (25-18, 25-9) and Portola, Calif. (25-13, 25-9).
Douglas then went 3-1 in a five-team pool on Saturday, defeating Bishop Union (25-16, 21-25, 15-5), Smith Valley (25-8, 25-15) and Lowry (25-18, 25-16) and losing to Dayton (25-16, 16-26, 13-15).
Katie McCullough led the Tigers with 50 kills over the weekend, Kristina Barnum had 49 kills, Ariah Barth had 36 kills, Jessa Gansberg had 14, Hailee Porras had 12, Shelby Van Winkle had six, Sydne Huck and Maddy Lowe each had three and Sage Pintler, Maddy Strauss, Mandy Weaver, Nikki Hamada and Bailey Weaver each had one kill.
McCullough had 12 blocks, Huck, Jessa Gansberg and Van Winkle each had four and Barth, Weaver and Barnum each had one.
On the service side, Barnum recorded 11 aces, Porras had 10, Pintler had eight, Barth had seven, Lowe had five, Van Winkle had four, McCullough and Jessa Gansberg each had three, Bailey Gansberg, Shay Worley and Strauss each had two and Hamada had one.
Strauss led the defense on the weekend with 25 digs, Van Winkle had 21, Worley and Lowe each had 15, Hamada had 14, Barnum had 11, Barth had 10, Bailey Gansberg had nine, Porras and McCullough each had eight, Pintler had five and Jessa Gansberg had two.
Van Winkle had 82 assists, Hamada had 36, Bailey Gansberg had 27, Porras and Barth each had three, Jessa Gansberg had two and Pintler and Strauss each had one.
Douglas improved to 14-3 overall on the season. The Tigers will host Spanish Springs Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
