The Douglas High volleyball team continued the momentum from a successful opening-weekend tournament, pushing ahead for a five-game win over Yerington Tuesday night in Minden.
Douglas won with scores of 25-15, 20-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-12 in a back-and-forth tilt.
Kristina Barnum had 19 kills in the win while Katie McCullough had 16 of her own. Ariah Barth had nine kills, Jessa Gansberg had five, Shelby Van Winkle had four, Maddy Lowe had two and Maddy Strauss had one.
Van Winkle had 45 assists and led the defense with 18 digs, while Strauss had 16 digs and two assists. Barth had 14 digs and two assists, Bailey Gansberg had 10 digs, Shay Worley had six digs, Barnum added five digs, and McCullough had three.
Barth had eight aces, Van Winkle had five and Strauss and Bailey Gansberg each had two and Pintler and McCullough each had one.
McCullough had two blocks, and Jessa Gansberg, Barth and Van Winkle each had one.
Barth led the team with 17 service points, Van Winkle added 12, Strauss had eight, Bailey Gansberg had eight, Pintler had five, McCullough had four and Jessa Gansberg, Worley and Mandy Weaver each had one.
The Douglas High junior varsity squad defeated Yerington in two games.
Douglas improved to 7-2 on the young season with the win and will continue a busy week with a match at South Tahoe on Wednesday.
