After a refreshing break from the smoke for most of the weekend, it rolled back in progressively throughout Sunday.
Air quality in Carson Valley today has clocked in between 150 and 198 – all qualifying as “unhealthy.”
The Rim fire, the source of most, if not all, of this smoke over the past one and a half weeks, has grown to 228,670 acres. Containment, however, is now listed at 60 percent.
As far as today’s weather goes, at some point we’ll be looking at a 30 percent chance of precipitation. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, as well as continued areas of smoke are in the forecast. Look for a high of 83, overnight low around 56. Winds today will range between 5 and 15 mph, blowing from the southwest.
The Douglas volleyball team had a strong weekend at an invitational tournament in Las Vegas, winning six of eight matches. We’ll be tracking down scores and stats later in the day.
Finally, we have another batch of great photos from yesterday’s sunset.
