The Faye Fire up on Jobs Peak continues to burn into a second day, albeit slowly. Currently, the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch has the fire at a quarter-acre, with one engine on scene and a helicopter to fight it. The terrain up there, for anyone who has ever made the hike, is tough enough without having to fight a fire on top of it.
Brad Cockman sent in a shot of the mountain last night. The fire is those two small dots toward the bottom of the frame.
Valley resident Megan Everett sent us a batch of photos from Monday night’s lightning storm. Thanks Megan! Here’s a couple of her shots:
I talked to Wyatt Denny last night and will have an update on how his summer, including the National High School Finals Rodeo, is going later on today.
Also, longtime Nothern Nevada fishing and outdoor writer/columnist Don Quilici called yesterday to graciously offer his services. I’d been hoping to add a fishing report to the page, so the timing of the call couldn’t have been better. We’ll debut Don’s report later this morning.
The Tahoe/Douglas Elks Summerfest/Carnival starts tonight at 5 p.m. and will be here through Sunday. I believe we are headed out there Thursday night.
