Genoa — 1862 David Walleys Restaurant and Saloon proudly accepts national recognition for receiving Wine Spectator magazines 2013 Award of Excellence. The fine dining restaurant within David Walleys Hot Springs Resort and Spa will be featured in the August edition of Wine Spectator magazine, the industry’s authority on wine and wine culture.
This is the second consecutive year that the restaurant has received the prestigious award.
“It is a great honor to once again receive the Award of Excellence,” said certified Sommelier, Troy Denkler. “Food and wine are our passion and we strive to find the perfect wine to compliment our guests dinner selections.”
The Award of Excellence category recognizes winning restaurants for offering wine lists that typically offer 400 or more selections, feature superior presentation and display, and offer a selection of well-chosen quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu both in price and style.
With more than 1,100 bottles from which to choose, 1862s wine cellar offers a variety of wine from around the world, focusing both on quality and price.
“The wines we offer are what we believe to be the very best we can find from each region,” said Denkler. ”We carefully select the best wines from every region around the globe, and our bottles vary in price, ranging from $20 to our $3,500 1990 Chateau Mouton.”
Since 1981, Wine Spectators Restaurant Wine List Awards have recognized the world’s best wine lists. The prestigious awards program honors an elite group of restaurants across more than 70 countries. The complete list of the 2013 award winners will be featured in the Aug. 31 issue of Wine Spectator.
