Story special to the Carson Valley Times
Downtown Gardnerville has just become a little sweeter with the opening of Polka Dots a traditional candy, card and gift store. Located in the center of “boutique row” near the intersection of U.S. 395 and Gilman, the vivid pink door invites visitors of all ages to step back in time for a classic old-fashioned candy store experience.
“Visitors can satisfy their sweet tooth with a variety of mouth-watering candies, featuring the industries most iconic brands and flavors,” said store owner Jody Branson. “In addition to candy, shoppers will find trendy gifts and necessities, traditional children’s toys and a great selection of cards to fit every occasion.”
Branson’s vision dates back to 1994 when she opened Fresh Ideas, a gift boutique located next door to Polka Dots. “19 years ago, I saw a need and took the leap,” said Branson. “It’s been a successful adventure, I’m grateful the community has embraced us as a go-to for unique gifts and home decor and Fresh Ideas is still thriving. The idea with Polka Dots is similar, the space became available, I think the town needs it, and it will be a great fit and a nice addition to the neighborhood.”
Decorated in a pleasing palette of vibrant colors, with rows of old-fashion candy jars,
Polka Dots is a treat for the eyes, promising a carefree visit for every shopper. Their signature products make beautiful gifts and one-of-a-kind gift baskets can be created for any occasion.
Candy buffets are the latest trend for parties, weddings and showers. The candy can be used as a dessert station or as gifts for guests, allowing them to choose their favorite selection with a favor bag. Polka Dots is a one-stop-shop for your next celebration, traditional candy jars are available to rent and the vast variety of colored and themed candies will brighten your event.
