BLM and Carson City Fire were working a wildland fire on Tarnahan Hill Wednesday evening. The fire quickly grew to 100 acres according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch after sparking around 7:30 p.m., but was in no immediate threat to structures.
The large plume of smoke caused several reports from within the Valley and East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts initially responded. Due to the remote location, access to the fire was difficult, forcing attack solely from hand crews and aircraft.
Also Wednesday, civilians reportedly extinguished a 10×10 fire at the Mexican Dam after smoke was reported at approximately 8:30 p.m. Crews responded and confirmed containment of the fire.
